In the Spirit of St. Robert...

Dear Parents,

As we prepare to celebrate the feast of All Saints, we also recognize it’s time for Parent-Teacher Conferences!

I know the meeting between you and your children’s teachers will be positive and productive.  Please share with

them any concerns you might have as well as any that your children have shared with you but might have felt

uncomfortable discussing with their teacher.  In addition, if for any reason you cannot meet during the scheduled

time, please call the school office so it can be rescheduled.

The results of the ITBS standardized testing, that the students in grades 2-8 took back in September, arrived the other day.  We applaud the great work of our students!  Especially noted should be the fine work of our junior high students in the core areas of Reading, Language Arts, and Math.  The high marks in Literature, I believe, are a direct result of our “Accelerated Reader”  Program for students in grades 2-8 along with the commitment  of our teachers and parents.   A recent change in the structure of our math curriculum along with the coordinated efforts of all our teachers accounts for the high marks in math as well.   In general, these classes scored in the top quartile in these core areas as compared to all the students in the country who took the same test.  I know that standardized tests are just one small component in measuring the development and potential successes of the whole child, but I will tell you it is a great pleasure to walk among these students.  They are truly life’s greatest joys!  It is through your modeling and encouragement that these children will be real successes in life.  We thank you for all of your work, support, and genuine concern for the mission of the school.  We hope you continue to share your many talents and ideas, and we wish for all of you a peaceful beginning to a wonderful holiday season!
